The Mini-Course That Helps E-commerce Stores Turn Emails Into Sales (Without Burnout or Guesswork)

How to Build a Product Feature Email in Klaviyo with Canva + ChatGPT

If you’ve ever stared at a blank Klaviyo template wondering how to make it actually convert—this post is for you. Today, I’m taking you behind the scenes to show you exactly how I build a clean, click-worthy product feature email using Canva, Klaviyo, and a sprinkle of ChatGPT magic.

This is the same method I teach inside the E-commerce Email Rhythm Playbook, and by the end, you’ll have a repeatable process to create your own high-performing template.

Why This Matters for Your Store

You don’t need to be a designer or copywriter to send emails that actually drive sales.

But too many product-based founders (especially early-stage solopreneurs like you) get stuck:

  • Staring at empty templates
  • Unsure what copy converts
  • Sending emails that feel meh (and get ignored)

A solid product feature email helps you:

  • Re-engage your audience
  • Show off your best-sellers
  • Drive repeat purchases — without relying on discounts

And best of all? Once you’ve built this template once, you can repurpose it every single month.

How to Build It (Step-by-Step)

1. Start with ChatGPT

Open ChatGPT and prompt it like this:

“Today I would like to write a product feature email showcasing [month] best sellers. I will show the 3 best sellers from [Month].

Here are the product url’s for the best sellers.

#1: [Product URL]

#2: [Product URL]

#3: [Product URL]

I will have a hero image with a headline

And then lifestyle images of each of the best sellers with a short description next to each image and shop now button.

Please recommend the copy needed that is benefit driven and creates a sense of FOMO in my ICA.”

Because I use an assistant trained on my email strategy, I get:

  • Subject line options (curiosity, benefit, and direct)
  • A killer preheader or preview text
  • Hero copy (e.g. “July’s Most Loved Pieces”)
  • Hooks and product blurbs for each featured item

2. Design the Hero in Canva

Use a Canva template (or one from the Rhythm Playbook bonus pack).

  • Add your best-seller image
  • Insert the hero headline from ChatGPT
  • Adjust brand fonts, colors, and CTA: “Shop the Best Sellers”
  • Export as PNG and upload to Klaviyo

3. Build the Template in Klaviyo

  • Start fresh with your brand’s header + footer blocks
  • Add a hero image block
  • Underneath, paste your hook copy (e.g. “When everyone’s adding the same pieces to cart
”)
  • Now, add product sections using a 2-column layout:
    • Left: Lifestyle image of the product
    • Right: Headline, short description, and “Shop Now” button

📌 Pro Tip: Alternate the image position (left/right) to create visual flow. Always check how it looks on mobile!

4. Link Everything Thoughtfully

  • Link each image and CTA to the correct product page
  • Add alt text (essential for email accessibility + deliverability)
  • Use real product names in alt text (e.g. “Caitlin Charcoal Wall Clock”)

5. End with a CTA Block

Close out with something warm and actionable:

“These were July’s bestsellers for a reason. Snap up your favorite before it’s gone.”

Include a text link for the readers who don’t click buttons. Sign off with your name, and add space so it feels polished and breathable.

Real Talk: Why This Works

Let’s bring this to life with a real example. Here’s a screenshot from the actual email we created in the YouTube tutorial:

Example of a product feature email built in Klaviyo featuring July’s best sellers: Caitlyn Charcoal Wall Clock, Sara Mist Jewellery Box, and Caitlyn White Wall Clock — includes lifestyle images, benefit-driven copy, and shop now buttons.

This email featured three top-performing products and followed the exact structure outlined in this post. After sending it to the brand’s list:

  • It had a higher-than-average open rate
  • Saw a 9% click-through rate
  • Drove multiple product purchases within 48 hours

More importantly? It now lives as a reusable Klaviyo template — ready to update with fresh products each month. No guesswork. No overwhelm.

Your Turn: Try It Yourself

I challenge you to build your own version of this product feature email this week. Even if you’re new to Klaviyo. Even if Canva still confuses you a little. Even if you’ve never used ChatGPT before.

Because consistency is what builds brand recognition. Your subscribers want to hear from you — they just need to recognize you in their inbox.
