What No One Tells You About Running an Ecommerce Store

We’ve all seen the promises: six-figure launches, subscription businesses that make you a millionaire overnight, dropshipping stores that supposedly run themselves. The message is clear—you’ll just wake up one day to passive income flowing in.

But here’s what no one talks about: the sleepless nights, the messy middle, and the hard (and holy) work it actually takes to build something sustainable.

So where’s the line between painting the big, aspirational picture… and showing up with integrity to say: “This is going to take longer, be harder, and cost more than you expect—but it will also be worth it”?

The Messy Middle of Entrepreneurship

I’ve been building my business full-time for six years. Along the way, I’ve spent close to $10,000 on trainings and memberships. And while those investments have helped me grow, this journey has tested and pushed my faith more than anything else in my life.

Almost every year, I hit a point where I’ve hustled myself straight into burnout. If you’re a small business owner, you probably know that feeling too—the exhaustion, the frustration, the wondering if it’s even worth it.

And in those moments, I’ve had to let go. To surrender. To remind myself I’m not in control and hand it all back to the Lord.

When I Almost Quit

Just a couple of weeks ago, I hit that point again. I was exhausted, questioning everything. For the first time in six years, I even told my husband: “Maybe it’s time to call it quits.”

And in what I can only call God’s sense of humor, 12 hours later I got my very first full-price sale from the ads I had been seconds away from switching off.

That moment reminded me: this journey will never be as easy as the sales pages promise. But when you keep showing up, keep trusting, keep surrendering it back to God—that’s when the breakthrough comes.

The Hardest Part of Ecommerce Isn’t What You Think

Here’s the truth no one tells you: creating your product, whether physical or digital, is the easy part.

The hard part is finding your audience. Building trust. Learning how to consistently show up, even when it feels like no one’s listening.

And that’s why so many ecommerce store owners wonder if it’s worth it—because it takes more time, money, and energy than they ever planned for.

Redefining Success

Here’s what I’ve learned: success isn’t just about how much money your store makes.

It’s about who you become in the process. The example you set for your family, your friends, and your customers. It’s about honoring your dream, knowing you’re worthy of chasing it, and finding joy in the day-to-day—not just in the finish line.

Why I Created the Ecommerce Email Rhythm Playbook

When I first set out to build the Ecommerce Email Rhythm Playbook, I thought it would just be a short mini-course to give people a quick win. In marketing, they call that a “micro yes.”

But the more I talked to ecommerce store owners, the more I realized: the course by itself isn’t what creates results.

What we all need—what you need—is support. Accountability. Someone in your corner when you feel like nothing’s working.

Sure, you could spend 100 hours piecing together answers from YouTube (or even ChatGPT). But what makes the difference is having someone walk alongside you. Someone who cheers you on, holds you accountable, and reminds you to keep showing up on the days you want to quit.

That’s why the Playbook has evolved into more than just lessons. It now includes:

  • 12 months of monthly group coaching sessions with no time limit, because I want to talk to every student.
  • A private Facebook group where you can connect with others on the same journey.
  • An open invitation to email me whenever you feel stuck.

Because yes, this journey is hard. But you don’t have to do it alone.

You’re Not the Exception

You may not be one of those Instagram accounts bragging about $25k days—but you are still capable of success.

And remember, success doesn’t have one definition. For me, it’s about every new skill I learn, every conversation with amazing humans chasing their dreams, and every person my work gets to help—whether that’s giving them joy, a smile, or even just a little dopamine hit when they click “add to cart.”

Let’s build businesses with integrity. Let’s build to serve. And let’s keep going—even when it feels hard.

👉 If you’re ready for support on this journey, I’d love to welcome you inside the Ecommerce Email Rhythm Playbook. You’ll find not just lessons, but community, accountability, and encouragement to keep showing up until your breakthrough comes.
